Moon Elipse Last Night

February 21, 2008 | Filed Under Events and Happenings, General, Outdoor, Sky and Astronomy | 1 Comment

Normally an eclipse of the moon would not be a very interesting event to me, but as a photographer I am learning to appreciate, look forward to and of course take pictures of more things in this life. I took a heck of a lot of pictures and saved the best 3 of all them. Check out my favourite one enlarged below as well as the thumbnails of the other two. ANy of my Jamaican friends or other photographers anywhere in the world take any pictures of this “astronomical” event?

The Accessories for my Sony DSC-H9 has arrived

February 13, 2008 | Filed Under Cameras and Equipment, General | 4 Comments

A bunch of accessories for my camera arrived just after Ash Wednesday as blogged about earlier and everything is present and accounted for.

Accessory kit

I am exited about testing out some of the accessories and i will be revisiting visiting the same spot where I took my panoramic shots of Kingston Harbour almost 2 weeks ago with my filter kit equipped to see if there is any significant difference. Now with an HD output cable I will be taking some of my pictures in Hi Def to get a feeling of the difference and see how the images look when displayed on a large HDTV.

Panoramic Photography Trial and Error

February 7, 2008 | Filed Under General, Jamaica, panoramic | 6 Comments

I was inspired by Marc’s panoramic shot called “Mountain View” earlier this week and I took it upon myself to try and create a panoramic shot of my own. Yesterday was Ash Wednesday and I was home with very little to do and a really bad cold. In the evening I grabbed my sister and a couple friends and went on a little “mini photography tour” of sorts in a section of Kingston Harbour behind the housing scheme that I live in. I took close to a hundred photographs, some awful, some bad, some good and a couple that were great! I’ll bee adding those 4 by 4 to my flick account over the next couple days.

The main reason I went there though was to try my hand at a panoramic shot and below you have the result. I have received a few pointers from trained eyes on how to improve the quality of my shots and I will be back at the same spots hopefully over the weekend to try another time armed with what I have learnt.

One of my favourite places to take photos is the Emancipation Park in New Kingston, Jamaica. I pass it almost everyday on my way home from work and it’s a popular meeting spot for me and my friends. Here is a selection of some of the photos I have taken there over the past few weeks.

Tried my hands today at some Christmas themed photos while at my Grandmothers house. Used her Chritsmas tree and pepperlights mainly. Below are my favourite three shots.
