So I still can’t afford a DSLR…but…

I am super grateful for the D70 Marc has kind enough to lend me for over a year now. It has helped me hone my skills and get some valuable experience using a DSLR as my main cam before was a pro-sumer Sony Point and Shoot [DSC-H9].

It seemed like only last week i bought my Sony DSC-D9

I’ve been looking at grabbing a new DSLR and I have had my eyes on the D90 ever since it came out and now the D7000. Problem is they are expensive (for me) and I am not running or involved in a formal photography business although my photos assist me in some of my other projects such as blogging, I also sell the occasional print to beamy-eyed friends and family. So here lies my dilemma.

Nikon D70

I’ll be traveling to the far east in a few short months and I really wanted to grab the new DSLR before then, but when I factor in the cam, flash, lens(es), bag, filters and other accessories thats quite an expense. I know I don’t have to purchase everything at once but going on the trip of a lifetime I really dont want to travel with a limited albiet more powerful overall camera. So I am thinking of picking up the updated model of the pro-sumer-cam I’ve had for years. The new model to be released later this month is the Sony HX100V It has most of what I need built in for a fraction of the cost. Doing some thinking, more on this in future posts…
